Trap Jaw is a swamp funk power-trio from Vernon Parish, Louisiana: Sly on baritone guitar and lead vocals, Mara on fuzz bass and vocals, Boone on dry drums and backing vocals.

Trap Jaw takes its name from Trap Jaw Creek, a half-forgotten bend in the woods behind the family's childhood home in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. The place was snakes, scrap lumber, cigarettes, dares, and trouble. Boone, Mara, and Sly carried the name with them before they ever carried it onto a stage.
